I recently discussed a profound concept in one of my Mastermind programs—the metaphysical perspective of Voice—and the group found it so interesting that I thought I’d share a bit of it here.

Fundamentally, metaphysics simply means "the science of the inward and central nature of things." The term originates from ancient Greek: "meta," meaning after, above, and beyond, and "physika," meaning physics. For the last several hundred years, we've associated metaphysics with aspects that cannot necessarily be seen or touched but can be felt or sensed.

In the context of Vocal Awareness, this understanding supports the truth that voice is vibration, voice is energy. It is above and beyond the physical, as this vibration and energy impact everyone our voice comes in contact with.

Much of my daily work is conducted on Zoom, and all of my private students and course participants will attest to the fact that they can feel the power of my voice, and the power of their voice emerging in what, in Vocal Awareness, is called "the Work."

One of the main theses in Vocal Awareness is that "Voice is Power—that when We Own Our Voice, We Own Our Power." On one level, this does mean that having a strong voice has value—but not in a loud or aggressive communication style. Rather, it means communicating from the integrity, authenticity, and truth of who we are.

Uncovering, discovering, and embodying our Voice is the most intimate and creative process one could ever undertake.

In this regard, I teach that the two greatest fears we all confront every day are the fear of abandonment and the ownership of our power—claiming our personal greatness. It can be daunting, even intimidating, to fully Be Our Selves. But when we deeply understand the root of the word intimate/intimus, which simply means intrinsic or essential in Latin, and integrate it with even a basic understanding of the term metaphysics, through the sanctity of Vocal Awareness, one does achieve personal sovereignty, embodying the truth of who they are and communicating it in an earnest, compelling, and inspiring way at all times.
